While in Saint Paul, Minnesota, my Airbnb was situated across from St. Paul’s Cathedral, set along historic Summit Avenue, and within walking distance to a neighborhood cafe. St. John’s Episcopal was down the road where I attended a evening Compline service. Singing Compline was Lenten ritual during my choir years at University of Redlands.

While researching my father’s childhood homes, I came across a vibrant vegan eatery called Modern Times. The home adjacent to the restaurant displayed a powerful mural reminding onlookers that the fight for equality is still urgent.
