Birdsong accompanies me every step of my morning walk. The air smells of sweet crabapple blossoms. The luscious dew hangs on leaves, grasses, and petals. This morning, the melody of the Western Meadowlark rose above the Song Sparrow, Northern Flicker, and Red-winged Blackbird… resonating clearly over the trees and field.

The first sighting of different wildflowers is very exciting. One species at a time begin to dot the meadows and line my sandy path. In addition to the friendly Star Lily, this week blues and purples arrived in the form of Sagebrush Bluebells and Milkvetch.
