I don’t want to miss out on life… which for me means not having my actions or thoughts filled with the superficial. Sometimes, I need to be shaken awake—not gently, but with rain on my face, dirt on my skin, and the wildness of the earth wrapped around my ankles. Sometimes, I need the roar and rumble of nature as it pushes against me, calling me to remember what it means to be alive.
This poem came from that place—from being drenched in truth of the nature, laid bare by the elements, and stirred into clarity. It’s about kneeling to the beautiful rawness of life, letting the earth humble me, shift my perspective, and respond to its wisdom with a pure and open heart.

Tangle of Wildflowers
Let the rain fall
Fill my eyes with sky
Soak skin in heaven
Drenched and dripping dry
Tangle my feet with wildflowers
Trip me up again
Lay me to mossy ground
Washed in sacred plain
Humble me with dirt
Grass about my hair
Rocks pressed into fingertips
Tingling and aware
Wake me from the stupor
Shake me from my sleep
Help me act in wisdom
Be the promises I seek
Don’t let me forget
Escape or deny
Gifts freely given
A pure heart my only reply
